Hi everyone! \o/ I’m writing a quick post to let you know that I’ve released a demo for my WIP BL VN, Beneath the Bleeding Moon… Which I guess you’ll know if you’re reading this devlog lol, but I thought I should make a post about it anyway!

Like LoToTo before it, Beneath the Bleeding Moon was written for this year’s Yaoijam! I wanted to make a more ambitious project this time around, so I committed to making a full-length VN at around 100k with a bunch of CGs, some lightly animated sequences, and fight scenes!

I was able to write the script for the whole VN in the time constraints for the jam, and the vast majority of the art has already been finished. However, coding and proofreading a project this long turned out to be a bit of a time crunch. I find writing very fun, but I don’t like editing the things I’ve written, and programming in Ren’py is always a chore: especially when you have a lot of fight scenes with fancy effects to worry about…

Though a chunk of the story is coded, I think it’ll take a while until I’m able to release the whole VN. Since I knew things would take a longer than anticipated, I also decided to go ahead and get even more fancy art assets to pretty the story up, and a custom OST. As such, I estimate it’ll take several months (maybe 4-6 months? It’s a little hard to say) until the project is fully finished.

I do hope you enjoy what I was able to put together during the jam in the meanwhile, however!

The full game will be released both on Steam and Itch.io, and it’ll be commercial. I’m thinking of charging around $10 for it. I think that seems fair, given the length of the story and the number of pretty CGs the story has (thank you, Saitoki!)
